Overdue notices are sent out every two weeks. Students with an overdue book will not be allowed to check out books. Teachers are asked to encourage students to return books on time.
Students will receive their first overdue notice (overdue 1 - 5 days) on white paper. The second overdue notice (overdue 6 - 29 days) will be on teal paper.
If a student has an overdue book for more than 30 days, the book is automatically marked as “lost” and the parents will be sent an email, a yellow notice in their child's Friday Folder, or a notice in the mail requesting their assistance in locating the book.
Students who lose or damage a book beyond repair will be asked to pay a fine of $15 for a hardback and $5 for a paperback. A refund will be issued if the lost book is found within 60 days.
Gwinnett County School Board policy states that student records may be withheld at the end of the year until a student returns library materials or pays for their replacement
